The tort law regulates remedies for civil violations—the person responsible for the wrongdoing committed either deliberately or accidentally. The aggrieved or injured person is compensated through the settlement of damages.
Damages can include compensation for the loss of possessions, medical costs or physical or mental incapacity or pain and suffering, as well as punitive damages to be imposed on the perpetrator of the crime.
The majority of claims arising from civil suits, excluding contractual ones, are governed under tort law. The goal of the tort laws is to offer relief from the wrongful actions of other people through financial compensation.
